The SPSO is the final stage for complaints about public service organisations in Scotland including the NHS and health and social care partnerships.
We have a great team who work to the values of being people centred, fair, independent with a focus on learning and improvement. In order to make decisions about health and social care complaints, we work closely with a register of professional advisers. As an adviser for SPSO, you are asked to comment on complaints and ensure any decisions are based on contemporary understanding of clinical practice and current evidence and standards.
The role provides you with an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development. You will contribute to the wider learning and improvement of the NHS in Scotland and your organisation, in turn, will benefit from your expertise, knowledge and skills about listening, responding and resolving complaints.
Our Advisers Open Seminar is taking place on Thursday 1 September 2022 from 6pm- 7.30pm. We are inviting experienced clinicians, registered with the GMC who are able to analyse complex and conflicting information, present information in an easy to understand and logical manner and demonstrate balanced judgement, empathy and fairness to join us.
The webinar is open to anyone who would like to find out more about being a professional adviser for the SPSO, but we are particularly looking for clinicians in the following areas of practice:
