New Self-Isolation Support Grant independent reviews

Our Scottish Welfare Fund service is now also offering independent reviews of the newly available Self-Isolation Support Grants.

As of 12 October 2020, the Scottish Government have introduced a new type of crisis grant to assist those who are self-isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic, while in employment and on low incomes. Those who are eligible will receive a Self-Isolation Support Grant of £500 to alleviate any financial hardship caused due to being asked to self-isolate. Applications will be handled by Scottish Welfare Fund teams within councils.

If applicants are unhappy with the decision they have received from their local council, and have been through the council’s first tier review process, they can then apply to the Scottish Welfare Fund review service at the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) for an independent review of the council decision.
